The LUCCA A53 Pro is the espresso machine we've been waiting to put in your hands. It delivers independent brew and steam boilers, a rotary pump, and PID temperature control — without locking you into a permanent setup.
Here's what makes it different: it's the first A53 that switches between reservoir and direct plumbing without tools or downtime. Start with the reservoir. Plumb in when you're ready. Move it to a coffee cart, an office, or a second location without rethinking your infrastructure. That kind of flexibility is rare at this level.
Handcrafted wood panel upgrades available — Premium hardwood panels designed exclusively for the A53 family bring natural grain warmth and elegance to your countertop (sold separately here).

How does volumetric dosing change your daily workflow?
Simply put: it removes a variable. The A53 Pro lets you program two precise shot profiles and replicate them with a single button press. In a household where multiple people pull espresso, or when you're dialing in a new coffee, volumetric control means you're only adjusting grind — not chasing consistency across every other factor. Most E61-based machines at this price point don't offer this. It's a genuine workflow upgrade, not a marketing checkbox.
What do you need to plan for before buying — reservoir vs. plumbed?
The A53 Pro gives you both options, and you can switch between them without tools. Here's what to know before you buy: if you're going plumbed, you'll need the LUCCA A53 Pro Direct Plumb Kit and a home water softening and filtration system. If you're staying on reservoir, plan for more frequent refills — back-to-back drinks move through water quickly. In reservoir mode, we recommend the Oscar Water Softening Pouch and staying on top of replacement intervals. Either way, keep your filtered water between 35–85 ppm. Your machine will thank you.
What's the most important limitation to know before committing?
No pressure or flow profiling. The A53 Pro brews at a fixed 9 bars — there's no paddle, valve, or app interface to manipulate the pressure curve mid-shot. That's not an oversight; it's a deliberate design philosophy. The A53 Pro is built for commercial-style consistency, not artisan experimentation. If profiling is central to how you think about espresso, this machine will feel limiting regardless of everything else it does well. We'd rather you know that now than find out after the fact.
At its price point, what are you actually stepping up from — and what does spending more get you?
