The Super Jolly V Up Electronic puts a programmed dose in your basket without you holding anything. Push the portafilter against the activation pin and the grinder starts, runs the time you set, and stops. Your hands stay free for the next drink.

Three doses are programmable from the touchscreen, adjustable in 0.1 second steps, which works out to roughly 0.2 grams per step. Set a single, a double, and either a third dose or a manual override, then lock them behind a password so nobody dials them out mid-shift. Grind Flow Control sits at the outlet with three interchangeable wire dampers, so you can tune for a light Ethiopian or a dark Brazilian and keep the grounds in the basket instead of on the counter.

Underneath the touchscreen the fundamentals are unchanged. 64mm flat hardened high-carbon steel burrs, stepless micrometrical adjustment, and an aluminum die-cast body. It is the right main grinder for a small to medium cafe, and the right second grinder for a high volume bar that needs decaf or a single origin on its own burrs.

Is the Mazzer Super Jolly V Up Electronic a commercial grinder or a home grinder?

Mazzer rates the Super Jolly V Up Electronic for professional use, and the manual states it is not intended for household use. In practice it is a common home grinder for people running a serious espresso setup, and it is sold that way across the industry. Be honest with yourself about two things before you buy one for a kitchen: it stands 24 inches tall with the full hopper, and it is built for someone who will keep it clean.

What is the difference between the Super Jolly V Up Electronic and the Super Jolly V Pro?

Both run a 350 watt motor and 64mm flat burrs at the same speed. Mazzer states that the V Pro burrs are re-engineered to speed up dosing time by 20 percent, and the V Pro adds a double fan cooling system, a burr chamber you can open for cleaning without losing your grind setting, a wider adjustment range with a settable zero point, dose steps of a hundredth of a second, and a tag holder as standard. The Super Jolly V Up Electronic has no cooling fan. If one grinder carries your whole morning rush, the V Pro is built for that duty cycle. For a small to medium cafe, or as a second grinder in a larger one, the V Up Electronic is the better value.

What is the difference between the Super Jolly V Up Electronic and the Timer version?

The Electronic is a grind-on-demand machine. It has a touchscreen, three programmable doses, and a portafilter-activated fork, and it grinds straight into your basket. The Timer version is a grinder-doser with a doser chamber and a lever, and it grinds on a mechanical time switch. Both occupy the same footprint. The Electronic gives you fresher grounds and finer dose control, the Timer is simpler and cheaper.

What size burrs does the Mazzer Super Jolly V Up Electronic use?

64mm flat burrs in hardened high-carbon steel, Mazzer reference 233M. Mazzer designs and manufactures its own burrs in Italy. They spin at 1400 RPM on 50Hz power and 1600 RPM on 60Hz, which is what you have in the United States.

How fast does the Super Jolly V Up Electronic grind, and how much can it handle?

About 8.9 seconds for a 17 gram dose, which puts the Super Jolly V Up Electronic in Mazzer's medium output class. Actual time varies with roast, blend and grind setting. The practical ceiling is the duty cycle printed on the label on the side of the machine, and the manual recommends not running it more than 10 to 15 minutes at a stretch. For a cafe pulling steadily all day as its only grinder, step up to an 83mm platform or to the V Pro.

Does the Super Jolly V Up Electronic have a cooling fan?

No. The Super Jolly V Up Electronic has no cooling fan. The double fan cooling system is a Super Jolly V Pro feature. The V Up relies on its duty cycle and on thermal overload protection that cuts power to the motor if it overheats.

What is Grind Flow Control on the Mazzer Super Jolly V Up Electronic?

Grind Flow Control, or GFC, is a removable aluminum insert in the coffee outlet fitted with a wire damper. Three interchangeable dampers ship with the Super Jolly V Up Electronic. The wire breaks up clumps and reduces static as the coffee falls, so more of the dose lands in the basket and less ends up on the counter. You swap dampers to suit the roast, the origin, or the humidity in your shop.

How tall is the Mazzer Super Jolly V Up Electronic and will it fit under a cabinet?

The Super Jolly V Up Electronic is 24 inches tall with the standard hopper, 7.75 inches wide and 10.5 inches deep. Standard kitchen cabinets sit about 18 inches above the counter, so it will not clear one. A short hopper brings the height down to roughly 18.75 inches, which is still marginal. Plan on an open counter position, and allow 6 inches of clearance from walls and adjacent equipment with the front left open.

How many doses can you program on the Super Jolly V Up Electronic?

Three. The touchscreen holds a single, a double, and a third position that you can set either as a third dose or as a manual grind override. Dose time adjusts in 0.1 second steps, which is about 0.2 grams. An administrator menu lets you cap the maximum time for each dose and lock the settings behind a password.

Is the Mazzer Super Jolly V Up Electronic a single dose grinder?

No. The Super Jolly V Up Electronic is a hopper-fed grinder with a 1.1 kg bean hopper and a locking slide. It is designed to hold coffee and grind on demand throughout a shift. If you want to weigh in one dose at a time and grind it out clean, that is a single dose grinder and it is a different machine.

Will the Super Jolly V Up Electronic work with my portafilter?

The fork on the Super Jolly V Up Electronic is designed to take most portafilter shapes and diameters, and it adjusts for height, horizontally, and vertically. Longer side tongues ship in the box for taller baskets. Set the fork before first use, following the manual, so the portafilter engages the activation pin properly.

When should I replace the burrs on the Mazzer Super Jolly V Up Electronic?

Mazzer does not publish a fixed interval in the Super Jolly V Up manual. It advises checking the burrs periodically and replacing them once grind quality drops, because worn burrs crush beans instead of cutting them, which generates heat and widens particle size. The signs are longer grind times for the same dose, more fines and boulders, and shots that channel where they used to run clean. Use original Mazzer burrs, and grind a few doses after fitting a new set and discard them.

What power does the Mazzer Super Jolly V Up Electronic need?

350 watts on 120 volt single phase power through a standard US plug, with 5 amp service. The outlet must be properly earthed and protected against overcurrent, and Mazzer specifically says not to run it on an extension cord or a multi-socket adapter.

How loud is the Mazzer Super Jolly V Up Electronic?

Mazzer measures daily noise exposure at 74 dB(A) plus or minus 2.2 dB(A), based on 240 minutes of operation across an eight hour shift. That sits below the 85 dB(A) action level in the OSHA occupational noise standard.

Is the Mazzer Super Jolly V Up Electronic NSF certified?

The Super Jolly V Up Electronic is ETL Sanitation Listed to NSF-8 and ETL Listed to UL-763. That matters if your local health department or your insurer requires listed equipment behind the bar.

Where is the Mazzer Super Jolly V Up Electronic made?

Italy. Mazzer Luigi S.p.a. has built grinders near Venice since 1948 and manufactures its own burrs in house.
