The Mazzer ZM Filter is built around one idea: you should be able to set grind size as a number instead of a feeling. Its digital adjustment controls the distance between the 83mm flat burrs in microns, so a setting is a value you can write down, hand to the next barista, and return to exactly. Twenty settings store on the display with four programmable buttons for recipe recall, and electronic True Zero calibration means the same number lands in the same place on any ZM in any cafe.

It ships with 151F filter burrs, which is what makes this the filter bar's grinder rather than another espresso grinder. Burrs turn at 1050 RPM on 60Hz power, slow for their size, and a double fan cooling system with electronic control keeps the grounds from heating. Retention runs under half a gram, so single dosing works properly and one origin does not contaminate the next. A bag holder and two lockable ground-coffee canisters come in the box, and the display flips aside for chamber cleaning and burr changes.

This is for the batch brew and manual brewing side of a specialty cafe, or a roastery bench. If you want it grinding espresso, Mazzer sells the 151B espresso burr set, and there is a 151G for higher clarity in filter and a 151I hybrid. Swapping burrs is a deliberate change of purpose rather than something you do daily.

What is the Mazzer ZM Filter designed for?
Filter and batch brew first. The ZM is fitted from the factory with 151F filter burrs, and its whole configuration, from the 83mm flat burrs to the lockable canisters and bag holder, is built around brewed coffee rather than espresso. It can grind espresso with a burr change, but that is not what it is for.

What burrs does the Mazzer ZM Filter come with?
83mm flat steel burrs, reference 151F, fitted as standard for filter grinding.

What other burr sets are available for the Mazzer ZM Filter?
Three. 151G for filter with more clarity, 151B for espresso, and 151I as a hybrid across both. The burr set is what turns the ZM from a filter grinder into an espresso grinder or a machine that does both.

How fast do the burrs turn on the Mazzer ZM Filter?
1,050 RPM on 60Hz power, or 900 RPM at 50Hz. That is deliberately slow for an 83mm flat burr grinder, and it keeps heat out of the grounds.

What is the retention on the Mazzer ZM Filter?
Under 0.45 grams. That is low enough that you can move between coffees without a meaningful purge, which is the point of a grinder aimed at a filter bar rotating through single origins.

Does the Mazzer ZM Filter have a timer?
Yes, a digital grind timer adjustable from 5 to 60 seconds, with settings stored on the display.

How much coffee does the Mazzer ZM Filter hopper hold?
The standard hopper holds 0.32 kg, which is about 0.7 lbs. Mazzer offers a 1.3 kg hopper as an option, so if you see a 2.9 lb figure quoted elsewhere, that is the optional hopper rather than the one in the box.

What comes with the Mazzer ZM Filter?
A bag holder and two lockable canisters, so you can grind into a canister for a batch brewer or straight into a bag.

What are the power requirements for the Mazzer ZM Filter?
900 watts at 120 volts, drawing 7.5 amps, with a standard NEMA 5-15P plug. Note that Mazzer's own data sheet prints 800 watts while the US distributor publishes 900. The 7.5 amp figure at 120 volts works out to exactly 900 watts, so 900 is the figure to plan a circuit around.

How big and how heavy is the Mazzer ZM Filter?
25.5 inches tall by 9.75 wide by 17 deep, and 77 lbs. The depth is the number that catches people out, so measure your counter before ordering.

Can I change the burrs on the Mazzer ZM Filter myself?
The display flips aside to open the grinding chamber, which is how you reach the burrs for cleaning and for a burr swap. Mazzer sells the alternative sets as parts, so switching between filter and espresso burrs is a planned operation rather than a service call.

What is the warranty on the Mazzer ZM Filter?
Mazzer covers the ZM Filter with a 12 month parts warranty.
