The Sanremo Zoe Competition is the machine we point first-time café owners at, and the reason is how much of the feature set arrives as standard rather than as an extra. Volumetric dosing programmable per group, electronic pre-infusion, a programmable automatic cleaning cycle, LED spots over the work area and a dual gauge all come in the box, at a price where several of those are usually options.

Underneath that it is a straightforward, serviceable commercial machine. A steel frame and steel panels that survive a mobile build, a copper heat exchanger boiler so steaming and brewing run together, a shot counter keypad on every group that also drives the programming, and panels that come off quickly, which keeps service calls short.

Choose the group count for throughput and the height for your cups. The tall cup version raises clearance for 16 ounce and larger to-go cups, and is available in both two and three group. The boiler heating element is configurable, so the machine can be matched to the circuit you have, and we will confirm the exact electrical specification for your build before you commission any work. If counter space is your binding constraint rather than volume, the Zoe Compact is the same machine in a footprint just under 21 inches square.

  • Integrated shot counter keypad on every group, which also handles the programming functions

  • Cup warmer power rating: 200 W

3 Group:

  • Width: 37.4 in
  • Net weight: 152 lbs. Gross weight with shipping crate: 161 lbs
  • Service boiler: copper, 12.5 liters
  • 208-240 Vac single phase. Configurable boiler heating element: 4.5 kW (4200-5100 W, 20 A), 5.5 kW (5000-6000 W, 24 A) or 6.0 kW (5400-6300 W, 26 A)

Both configurations:

  • Hydraulic circuit: heat exchanger
  • Steam boiler heat management: adjustable mechanical pressostat
  • Pump: 250 W motor, rated 150 L/h
  • Because the heating element is configurable, the receptacle depends on the element specified for your machine. Contact us to confirm before commissioning electrical work. Plug and outlet sold separately
  • Dedicated cold water line with shut-off valve and a drain required
  • Proper water filtration required (sold separately)
  • Country of origin: Italy

Who is the Sanremo Zoe Competition for?

First-time cafe owners, mobile coffee trucks and trailers, small to medium coffee shops, bakeries, restaurants and religious organizations. The Zoe Competition is the machine to choose when you want a reliable, easy to operate commercial machine with most of its feature set standard rather than optional.

Should I buy the two group or the three group Zoe Competition?

The two group is 28.3 inches wide and carries a 9 liter copper boiler. The three group is 37.4 inches wide and carries a 12.5 liter copper boiler. Choose the three group when you need a third barista working simultaneously, or when boiler recovery under a sustained milk load is the constraint. The three group also needs a substantially larger electrical circuit.

What is the difference between the standard and tall group Zoe Competition?

Height and cup clearance. The standard group machine stands 20 inches tall with 3.3 inches of clearance under the dispensing spouts. The tall group version stands 22.4 inches with 5.6 inches of clearance, which is what you need to brew directly into 16 ounce and larger to-go cups. Both group counts are offered in both heights.

How much counter space does the Zoe Competition need?

The two group needs 28.3 inches of width and the three group needs 37.4 inches. Both are 20.6 inches deep, and the tall group version is 20.8 inches deep. Allow additional room behind the machine for water and drain connections.

What does the Zoe Competition weigh?

The two group is 121 lbs net and 130 lbs gross in its shipping crate. The three group is 152 lbs net and 161 lbs gross. Verify that your counter, cart or trailer will carry the loaded weight before installation.

What outlet does the two group Zoe Competition need?

A NEMA 6-20 receptacle. The two group runs on 208-240 V single phase at 60 Hz, drawing 3200 W and 12.5 A with its 2.7 kW boiler heating element. The plug and outlet are sold separately.

What outlet does the three group Zoe Competition need?

A NEMA 6-30 receptacle, on 208-240 V single phase at 60 Hz. The exact draw depends on the boiler heating element specified when the machine is built: 4200 to 5100 W and 20 A with the 4.5 kW element, 5000 to 6000 W and 24 A with the 5.5 kW element, or 5400 to 6300 W and 26 A with the 6.0 kW element. Contact us to confirm the element on your machine before you commission electrical work.

Does the Zoe Competition have a shot counter?

Yes. Every group carries Sanremo's integrated shot counter keypad, which tracks shots pulled and also handles the machine's programming functions.

Can the Zoe Competition brew and steam at the same time?

Yes. It is a heat exchanger machine on a dedicated copper steam boiler, 9 liters on the two group and 12.5 on the three, so steam supply is independent of brewing.

Is the Zoe Competition volumetric?

Yes. Dosing is volumetric and programmable per group, and the machine runs electronic pre-infusion, delaying the group solenoid to wet the coffee first, set independently for single and double shots.

Is the work area lit on the Zoe Competition?

Yes. LED spots light the working area and are switched from the keypad. This is standard across the Sanremo ZOE range.

Does the Zoe Competition need plumbing and filtration?

Yes to both. It requires a dedicated cold water line with a shut-off valve, and water filtration is mandatory. Sanremo specifies 30 to 150 ppm TDS, total hardness below 85 ppm, pH 6.5 to 8, chlorides 5 to 15 ppm, total alkalinity 35 to 75 ppm, and zero iron and zero total chlorine. Water outside those parameters can void the warranty, and any chloride presence can cause corrosion.

How does the Zoe Competition compare to the Zoe Compact?

They are built on the same Sanremo ZOE platform at different widths, so they share the keypad, the electronics, pre-infusion, the cleaning cycle and the LED-lit work area. The Zoe Compact puts two groups into a footprint just under 21 inches square on a 7 liter boiler, and it is the only one of the two offered in 110V. This machine is wider, carries a larger boiler, and is offered in three groups. Pick the Compact when counter space or a 110V supply is the constraint, this one when volume or cup height is.

What is the next machine up from the Zoe Competition in the Sanremo range?

The Sanremo F18SB single boiler, which adds PID temperature control and stronger steam generation, and above it the Sanremo F18 multi-boiler, which offers superior temperature stability and greater capacity.

How long does a Zoe Competition last, and what is covered?

With filtration maintained and preventative maintenance performed, expect roughly 7 to 10 years of commercial service. Sanremo warrants against defective material and workmanship for twelve months from the invoice date, and Voltage adds one year of labor coverage. Absence of water filtration voids the warranty.

All new Sanremo espresso machines come with a 1-year parts warranty from the original order date.  Voltage provides an additional 1 year labor warranty.  The absence of water filtration voids this warranty.

Sanremo updated the ZOE platform for 2026 and current English documentation is being sourced from the manufacturer. We have removed the previous-generation spec sheet and manual rather than publish installation figures that no longer match the machine. Contact us for the specification you need and we will send it directly.
